“Art is not painting what you see, but what you make others see.” Edward Degas
Working to capture and preserve what is beautiful on Earth.
I grew up an artist’s daughter, painting beside my mother as a young child. Going to art school and spending hours perfecting my skill, I've worked hard to nurture my talent. In addition, I love nature. I often hike or garden; and when little jewels of beauty catch my eye, they become part of my paintings. In order to leave a legacy for future generations, I am driven to preserve the beauty around me .
I use many different media including oils, watercolors, and pastels. I love working in oils the most, allowing more blending and detail in my paintings. The colors also have a transparency that are rich and vibrant in my paintings.
My art is typically inspired by some form of nature, a reflection of my time growing up in the heartland. The simple beauty of the prairie has made me look closely at light and shadow and their effects on the landscape throughout the changing seasons. Many artist have inspired me, including O'Keefe, Van Gogh, and Cezanne.
